Wizkid snubs KKD at Ovation Red Carol
Nigerian music superstar, Wizkid was usually rude to ace Ghanaian Master
of Ceremonies, Kwasi Kyei Darkwa (KKD) at the Ovation Red Carol event
at the Movenpick Hotel on Christmas Eve, when the young singer asked
KKD to leave the stage for him to perform.
The incident happened quickly in the heat of the excitement when Wizkid got on stage to perform. After Wizkid had performed his first song, KKD appeared on stage seemingly with a message to deliver.
Wizkid called KKD ‘sir’ and asked what the MC was doing on stage in a sarcastic manner. Then KKD whispered something into Wizkid’s ears after which the singer exclaimed ‘..you are the MC’.
KKD then whispered something into the singer’s ears again before walking off stage. Wizkid then snubbishly said, ‘eh now go and let me perform’.
That was not the only rude behaviour of the music star on the night; he also blasted the DJ for playing a song when he (Wizkid) requested the DJ to stop the music. “What is wrong with this man?,” he asked (perhaps jokingly).
The Ovation Red Carol, which was also a celebration of UBA’s 10th Anniversary in Ghana saw exciting performances from the Winneba Youth Choir, AK Songstress, Kwabena Kwabena, Efya, Becca and Wizkid.
Highlights of the night included Ovation Magazine CEO/Publisher, Dele Momodu’s recount of how came to Ghana on ‘exile’ 20 years and how he gave birth to his famous glossy magazine, Ovation International.
