Golden Movie Awards 2017 to take place on July 8

The Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA), since it's inception in 2015, it has proven to be one of Africa's most promising Awards event.  The 2017 edition was announced by a director of the awards event, Ms. Mimi Andani to take place on the 8th of July, 2017 at yet to be disclosed venue in Accra. This year marks the third anniversary of the awards.

This is what she has to say about the upcoming awards event, “We are very delighted about the third anniversary of the awards and we are looking forward to it,” .
“We have taken the feedback from the previous event in good faith and although we had a great show last year, we intend to even make it greater come July 8.”

The director, Ms. Andani made this  announcement on Tuesday when addressing journalists and bloggers during the media launch for the event held at the newly established International Students and Guest Centre at Teiman near Abokobi.

She also invited filmmakers in Africa who have works produced within the year under review that's between 1st January, 2016 and 31st January, 2017 to submit them for consideration in the 2017 edition of the awards.
This what she said “The process of the GMAA begins with the opening of entries for filmmakers to submit their works and this year has been no exception,”.
“Since April 1 we have been asking filmmakers in Africa and the African diaspora to submit their works and thus far we have had encouraging response from across the continent. This will go on until 10th May when entries will close officially.”

Ms. Andani also took the media through the procedure for submitting of films for the GMAA.
And these are the procedures:
#Visit goldenmovieawards.com
# Download the forms
# Fill them out
# Add your 3 DVDs
# Submit through DHL to:
NMJ Ghana Office
Number 35 Apkorfio street Adentan – Greater Accra – Ghana OR
Submit online through Vimeo and email us the viewing password through
info@goldenmovieawards.com OR
Call the number on the website for further information.

She also made emphasis on the fact that, “The scheme is accepting films of all genres and lengths with any official language or subtitled in any official language, . All films presented shall be watched by the Selection Committee and a shortlist made based on the awards’ criteria for the consideration of the Grand Jury,”.

She disclosed to the media that, the theme chosen for this year’s celebration was “Empowering the African Filmmaker”, because they believe there is the need to empower the African filmmaker in all aspects and that they “shall use the occasion of the 3rd anniversary of the GMAA to do so.”
“As part of empowering the African filmmaker in the 3rd year of the GMAA, we shall give special recognition to three film industry personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth of the African film industry over the years in different roles. These three people who will be selected by our eminent jury would be recognized and rewarded on the night of the main event.”

She revealed that, “We shall reward three people who have been part of the audience at all the three Golden Movie Awards Africa events. We have a database of those who have patronized the event over the time that we have been here and three of such people who would be at this year’s event would be heavily rewarded.”  Meaning they'll be rewarding loyal patrons of the event since it's first edition.
Again, as part of exploiting the 3rd anniversary theme, there would be three ambassadors of the GMAA this year. “We are currently finalizing talks with these ambassadors we have chosen and when all is done we shall announce their names,” .

Mr. SosthenesGalevo, the Chief Executive Officer of the GMAA , said the organisers of the event would seek to make it a better event every year to ensure that all stakeholders and partners get the best out of it. He emphasized that, the event is a pan-continental one and as such they would try to ensure that all regional interests were well represented.
The Communication Director of the GMAA, Mr. Francis Doku on other hand commended the media for supporting the scheme since its inception and appealed for its continued support. He also indicated, during question time, that a robust system of accreditation will be put in place so ensure that relevant media personnel would be accredited to cover the main event.

The Golden Movie Awards Africa is instituted and organized by NMJ Ghana and its  partners, the GMAA brings together professionals in filmmaking in Africa once every year to celebrate, promote and reward those who have excelled in their area of the film industry. That's awarding them for their good works and giving them motivation to do better.
The Golden Movie Awards Africa (GMAA) is an annual event that seeks to award excellence in movie making on the African continent and the African diaspora.

These photos of Nana Ama McBrown will make you doubt she's 43.

Multi talented Ghanaian actress, Nana Ama McBrown is still a hard nut to crack. The beautiful actress has been in the Ghanaian film industry for a quite a very long time. For this reason you may think she will lose her relevance in the industry with time.
Because there's this phenomenon in the Ghanaian movie industry that's, old goons lose the spotlight to the new and younger ones as the industry keeps growing.

But it seems this golden rule does not work in the case of the evergreen actress,Nana Ama McBrown.
The gorgeous actress is now 43 years old, but is in the prime of her career as it stands now.
She has this refreshing outlook and personality, which I think is a blessing.

Wondering what triggered this article and on what basis do we say this about the actress.
The only vivid prove for you are these photos shared by Mrs. Mensah on her Instagram page.

Many of her fans are are finding it difficult to believe her age, because Nana Ama McBrown looks nothing like her age. Honestly, I think that too is a blessing.😀

MzVee, Kidi, Kuami Eugene, thrill patrons at the #OKStripped

OK Stripped, a concert organised by Ghana's rap doctor, Okyeame kwame was held at the plush +233 Bar & Grill in Accra. The musical concert saw great from performances from some of Ghana's most energetic show rockers like, Wiyaala.

Making a bold statememt on the night was Richie Mensa's Lynx Entertainment's Acts, MzVee, Kidi and Kuami Eugene the 2017 VGMA Unsung category winner.
As well as performances from spoken word acts Rhyme Sonny, Eugene Speaks, and Jibsam.

Starting off with Kidi, his song 'say you love me' has won the hearts of most music lovers since it's release some months back. The audience at the event enthusiastically sang along as Kidi performed the song.
If you ask me, that says a lot about how big the song is becoming.
MzVee too has gave an incredible performance, performing some of her most widely accepted hit songs.

Kuami Eugene also proved himself worthy of the VGMA award by giving out such an amazing performance, he performed his smash hit track 'Bibiaa Beye Yie'. He is certainly an artist you should watch out for, because I think he just about to blow up like boooom, Lol.

High-life veteran and rapper, Kwame Nsiah- Appau known in showbiz as Okyeame Kwame's OK Stripped is geared toward raising funds for Okyeame Kwame longstanding Hepatitis B initiative.

Wiyaala, Okyeame Kwame killed it at the #OKStripped.

One of Ghana's most sensational singers, Wiyaala totally thrilled patrons at Okyeame Kwame’s ongoing OK Stripped concert.
The multi talented singer is also known for songs like Tuma, Kandibanye (Had I known), Sun and Moon,Rock My Body and Leno just to mention a few.

During her performance the Afro singer started off by doing a raunchy lab dance for Okyeame Kwame on the edge of the stage. Which I think was kind of, mind blowing. She then continued by giving patrons exciting life band rendition of some of her hit songs, most of them to be precise.
Then the big one, a cover of Rihanna's  smash hit song 'Diamonds'. Trust me it was such an energetic performance.

Meanwhile the headliner, Okyeame Kwame is set to release his new album 'Made In Ghana'  in the coming months.
OK Stripped concert also saw performances from Okyeame Kwame himself, MzVee, Rhyme Sonny, Akwaboah, Adina, Kuami Eugene, Root Eye, broadcaster KOD among others.

An OK Music brainchild, the gig is sponsored by Urbano Hotel, TXT Ghana, and 4SYTE TV, and will also see guest performances from highlife star Kwabena Kwabena, new kid Abochi, Adina, FlowKing Stone among others.
Another very exciting thing about the concert is that, it features most of Ghana's best performers.
Thanks.

100% REVIEW OF THE VGMA

Joe Mettle at Vodafone Ghana Music Awards 2017 winners
Joe Mettle
After the VGMA night critics have given their opinions on what went on at the awards night, talk of the red carpet, the main event and the host, the stage, the performances, the award winners on the night an so on.
The red carpet this year was very interesting, because some of the female celebs went too far in their quest to look their best on the night. The hilarious thing is what people were saying about it on social media, some were comparing some their dresses to that the 'power rangers '   and other things. The red carpet was host by Berla MUNDI alongside Elikem de Tailor.

Now, the main event was hosted by Ghana's queen of TV, Anita Erskine and DJ BLACK. The event saw great performances from Sarkodie ,EL ,Becca ,Runtowm , Nacee and Gospel all stars, Kofi Kinaata, Adina, Akwaboah, and so on, the legendary Charles Amoah also performed on the night.
People are routing for Charles Amoah and Nacee and the Gospel all stars as the best performers on the night but i give it to Sarkodie and Adina & Akwaboah.

History was made on the night as Joe Mettle won the artist of the year, and that was first in history for a gospel artist to win the overall artist of the year. Some critics he didn't even deserve to be in the category let alone winning the award ,making this claims on the basis that his song 'Onwanwani' to them was not a hit track and blah blah blah. But my take on this issue is that Joe Mettle really deserves it, because he has worked hard for it over the years and this is his time of wonders.
