Huawei, YFM takeover Accra and T’di Polytechnics
Mobile giant, Huawei Technologies, Ghana over the
past two weekends joined forces with YFM’s Y Campus Express (YCE) to
entertain and interact with students of Accra and Takoradi Polytechnics
respectively.
Huawei, as part of its commitment towards youth empowerment and welfare, partnered YFM’s flagship campus event, the YCE to engage students of both Polytechnics, in the “Make It Possible edition”.
This edition encourages students to study hard and make their dreams and aspirations possible. The programme which lasted for close to four hours on each campus, engaged over 4000 students in their various halls across boss campuses via door to door and live presenter engagement the loud ambience of the YFM frequency engulfed sections of the two campuses with “funky” music and Q & A sessions about their knowledge of the Huawei brand.
Robin Sun, Country Manager for Device Business at Huawei Technologies Ghana said, “Huawei is making it possible for students to have a better connected world through premium Smartphone offerings tailor made to suit their lifestyles”. “Huawei believes students have used their academic energies throughout the semester and need a respite before going back to their books,” he added.
The YCE Radio Show gives members the opportunity to participate in radio discussions both on campus and through reporting, presentations, talent exhibition etc.
Notably during the show at the Takoradi, students of the Nzema and Ghacem halls trooped to the live OB set-up, to showcase their dance moves. To climax all the excitement, students were given the chance to exhibit their talents through the ‘freestyle rap’ segment. Students had the opportunity to interact with Huawei range of devices like the Y series, P series and G series.
Huawei and YFM’s “Make it possible” edition of the YCE is aired live across the Golden Triangle. The YCE radio show covers about 18 tertiary institutions with membership spanning over 400 students.
President of YCE, Joel Orleans has challenged Accra Poly students to take up other initiatives while in school in order to become competitive for the job market after school. The next edition of the Huawei YCE will be at the Kumasi Polytechnic in January.
