Its new on the Ghanaian gospel music front and Preachers, who have been championing the rap/hip-hop gospel music is grateful for the recognition that music genre is earning.
The trio summed up the recognition in their nomination of Gospel Artiste of the Year, Group of the Year and the Music Video of the Year categories in this year’s Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
According to the young men who are committed to changing the face of rap music through preaching and teaching the word of God, the nomination is their ‘wages’ for their “hard work and commitment” over the years.
“We are very excited about the nominations because they give us hope that gospel rap or urban music has been accepted. This style of gospel music seemed alien to even the church so they were reluctant to accept it but we are happy it has been embraced now.
“This is what we have been working at since 2009 when we came together as a group. It hasn’t been easy to reach this height but we are thankful for the support our young teeming fans have given us all these years,” Psych, the lead singer for the group, told Showbiz in an interview on Friday.

The group, made up of Psych, Emani and Eddy, has two albums, Mark 16:15 and The Fearless Project. They started performing on campuses and later made their way to churches.
Their mission to “catch them young for Christ” has seen them perform in over 30 Senior High schools and tertiary institutions across the country and have graced some of the notable concerts such as Decemba2Rememba concert, Ghana Gospel Music Awards and Bless De Mic Arts and Music concert.
“We want to use this opportunity to entreat our fans to vote for us to win the awards we have been nominated for so we can celebrate the victory together,” he stated.
After touring Nairobi, Kenya, the group which has popular songs such as No Juju, Meyi Waye and Crazy says they are currently working on a trip to Israel for the Easter festivities.
