2016 Golden Globes Awards: The Complete Winners List

Leonardo DiCaprio Golden Globe WinnerThe Golden Globes proved again  that it has a tried-and-true formula: rewarding past big winners on the film side and embracing newbies on TV. There also was no shortage of star power on the podium, after upstarts dominated early in the evening.

The Revenant was the night’s only three-time winner at the 73rd annual trophyfest, taking Best Actor for star Leonardo DiCaprio and Best Director for Alejandro G. Iñarrito along with Best Picture.
But it was quite a night for small-screen freshmen: Winners included USA’s Mr. Robot, Amazon’s Mozart In The Jungle and Fox’s Empire — whose Taraji P. Henson took Best Actress for the show’s rookie year. And Rachel Bloom scored a surprise win as Best Actress in a TV Comedy for the CW’s Crazy Ex-Girlfriend.
The wins by Revenant and Mr. Robot made it a good night for indie distributor Anonymous Content, which produced both.
It was a big Globes for underdogs all around. Brie Larson took Best Actress in a Motion Gael Garcia BernalPicture Drama for Room, and there were three upset double winners: Mozart In The Jungle (Best TV Comedy and star Gael Garcia Bernal for Best Actor), Mr. Robot (Best TV Drama and Christian Slater for Supporting Actor) and Steve Jobs (Aaron Sorkin’s screenplay and supporting actress Kate Winslet).
Elsewhere, The Martian won Best Motion Picture Comedy or Musical and its star Matt Damon took Best Actor. Leonardo DiCaprio snagged Best Actor in a Motion Picture Drama for The Revenant. Inside Out cemented its place as the awards-season front-runner with a win for Best Animated Feature.
