KSM says there is a crisis Ghnaaian theatre

Ghana's legendary satirist and television personality, KSM,also known as Kwaku Sintim-Misa has bemoaned the lack of appreciation for quality theatre productions in Ghana. The renowned actor noted that there seems to be a crisis in Ghana when it comes to theatre.
According to him, Ghanaians now don’t appreciate quality drama unless it is funny. This development, KSM, who was speaking on Cosmopolitan Mix on Joy FM with Doreen Andoh Friday, said is badly affecting his plans of producing stage plays and movies in Ghana.
He said “the problem – not just with our movie scene – with stage [productions] I don’t know whether [there] is a crisis in Ghana. People really do not appreciate good drama unless they have to laugh. If you are not going to make them laugh at anything,” then they will not enjoy it.

“It’s almost like we have a psyche that once it’s called theatre it must be funny… that’s the challenge I am facing,” when it comes to bouncing back into the theatre and movie scene, KSM said.
“I have concepts of movies that I would like to put out but unless I have that type that I can hit a bigger market than Ghana, there will be no point because there are no funny themes at all.”
